What I've been up to...

So I know I havent blogged in a while. Truth is, school is been keeping me very occupied these days. A couple if days ago I finally changed my major to Mass. Communications with a concentration in Journalism. I was beyond excited. Like, I cant wait to start getting into my major and really writing. Its alot of new music/videos that has came out in the past couple of weeks so Im just gonna post them.

So brandy posted this video on youtube a couple of days ago and all I can say is WOW. I always knew she could sing, but not like this. She has so much control over her voice its crazy. As a aspiring vocalist, I was not only moved but inspired. Brandy is officially on my list of top female vocalists. It's Been A While...

I am currently procrastinating. I am putting off writing my speech for Public Speaking until the last minute, again. Anyway, It seems like forever since I've blogged man! School has just had me so preoccupied. So here's whats been going with me...I AM FINALLY CHANGING MY MAJOR!!! My major has been Psychology and I've been wanting to change it forever, but I've been hesitant. Well the time has come to throw caution to the wind! I will be a Journalism majr within a few days. I seriously cannot wait. I've always had a passion for writing so why not be a journalist. My ultimate plan is to write for magazines such as XXL, Vibe, Ebony, or Essence. Lets hope it all works out for the best.

Anticipation? NO, Im Ready!

Excuse the raggedy ass picture - I took it with the Blackberry (I was THAT excited). As you can see, I copped the Trey Songz - Ready album. I really only have one word, HOT! Most albums have about 5-6 tracks that are really worth something and the other 4 or 5 are garbage, NOT THIS ONE! Track for track, note for note this is by far the best album he had put out. Lets not get it twisted, I am by no means downing 'Just Gotta Make It' or 'Trey Day' because I am a HUGE fan and I have those as well as various mixtapes; I am simply saying you can tell he has grown as an artist and put alot of hardwork into this one. When I went to Target to buy it (the day after it was released), I snagged the last copy and then after that we went to another one so my friend could get it and they were sold out too! Hopefully this album puts him on the map and gets him the recognition he deserves. By the way, a couple of my favorite tracks are 'Neighbors Know My Name' 'I Invented Sex' 'Say Aah' and 'Black Roses'. IF YOU DONT HAVE A COPY OF 'READY' GO OUT AND GET IT!!!!!

IM BAAACCCKKKKK! It feels like forever, but in reality its only been like 3 and half months. I've missed this atmosphere and the people. Its like a completely different world here, at least for me it is. I swear I was pulling up to campus, it felt like something lifted from my shoulders. It was probably the reigns my mother placed on me as soon as I got home. Oh well, later for that! Im here and Im not going ANYWHERE! Asher Roth was right, man I LOVE college!

My mama always tells people that I'm a loner and I really beg to differ, but lately I really have been spending alot of time alone. When I was away at school I couldnt wait to come home so I could chill with my friends, but when the time came something changed. Most of the time we were like the three amigos, but recently I felt like shit just started falling apart. It started to feel alot less like the three amigos and more like I was a third wheel so I just excused myself from the equation. Now shit just seems awkward when we're all together. It could just be me, but I doubt it. These are my bestfriends and now they don't tell me anything let alone pick up the phone to call or text a nigga. Im not gonna say we're not friends anymore. but the relationship seems a bit strained now. I dont know what to do and honestly I dont care. Im ready for August 27th to get here so I can get back to school where shit makes sense and I enjoy myself.

Trey Songz - D.O.A

The boy Songz definitely goes hard on this one. Some people say its an R. Kelly diss, but I disagree. He's simply asking Kelly to step his game up, which in my opinion is GREAT advice. Regardless of his run-ins with the law, he was one of the few R&B artists that consistently made good music. Now this guy is making tracks with Oj the Juiceman...are you kidding me? Trey Songz has always been compared to R. Kelly and has always said how much he looked up to him, but now I agree with Songz. Of course R.Kelly will always be remembered for the music he's made, but nowadays he's not very relevant and Trey Songz should definitely not be compared to him. I hope R. Kelly takes the track the way it was meant - advice; and I hope it makes him step his game up and start making GOOD music again.

How do you feel about euthanasia? For those of you who don't know what it means, it is the term used to describe the legal killing of a human being or animal. Personally, I have no problem with it, but after talking to my friend I'm anxious to know how others feel. My friend's argument was that its not justifiable. She doesn't believe that taking the life of a living, breathing thing is right no matter the circumstance. I disagree. Being an avid animal planet viewer, I see animals that have been neglected in the worse way. These animals are in severe pain and even with emergency care, will not survive. Why not put them out of there misery? As far as humans go, if a person has committed unthinkable, heinous crimes, they should be sentenced to death. The names Charles Manson, The BTK Killer, and most recently Scott Peterson should make any person a fan of eunthanasia. What do you think???

Thought of the Moment.

I cannot wait until school starts in the fall!!!! I never knew how refreshing going AWAY to collegewas until I had to come back home for the summer. I feel suffocated. I want my freedom back. Being here is like a constant reminder of why I left in the first place. Im not trying to say that I dont like my hometown because I love Memphis, its just that I feel restricted. I have somebody telling me what time I have to be home, "clean this", "wash that", "go to the store for me".......AAAAHHHHHHHHHH! Just shoot me now! Plus being at school was FUN! Its like I found myself...well not myself more like my style and dare I say it...swag (Im beginning to despise the word). College is just like another world where I could start over and be the person I wanted to be without all the questionable glances. Oh, how I cannot wait until AUGUST 24 (or whenever my school starts).

So I pretty much read this entire book in a single night. I know, crazy right? This is book is thick as fuck! However, its just as addicting as it is long. Having already seen the first movie, I figured that once I picked up the book I wasnt going to be able to put it down, but sheesh that was an understatement. At first, I had absolutely no interest in the shit but after seeing America go Twilight and Robert Pattinson crazy, I figured "what the hell?" Now im officially hooked. I cant wait to read the next installment. This shit is DOPE!!!!!

So, while suffering from a case of insomnia, I stumbled upon http://octobersveryown.blogspot.com.

This is the blog of the above rapper, Drake, and his team. I've literally been up for hours going through all of the posts of this blog and I've found so many interesting things. Because I know of, and am a fan of Drake, I assumed the blog was only about him and would be consumed with everything hip-hop...boy was I WRONG. This blog is very...cultured, to say the least. But enough about that...lets get to the music.

Aubrey "Drake" Graham is most definitley one of the illest young rappers out. I've been a fan of his music since "Comeback Season" and a fan of him since Degrassi. On his latest mixtape titled So Far Gone, he brings something new to the table. Critics have compared this to Kanye's 808's and Heartbreaks and while I see where they're coming from, I think Drake has his own thing going on.

To sum it up, if you haven't copped So Far Gone, you are a loser. It is one of the best mixtapes I've heard in a while and I can't wait for the official album.
